Videos of our guided walks (Moonwalks) to Seymour tower and the Ramsar site in Jersey

Walks on the seabed to Seymour and Icho towers are also called moonwalks because of the remarkable lunar-like ‘landscape’  revealed at low tides.

Our walks take place during the day, evenings and at night when the tides are low enough to explore the south-east coast Ramsar wetlands site of Jersey.

The south-east coast of Jersey is a remarkable place to explore at low tide. This video with our chief guide Derek Hairon shows some of the things you can expect to see and discover on our guided walks on the seabed (also called “Moonwalks because of the lunar-like terrain).

Jersey Channel islands UK: Some of the highest tides in the world from Jersey Walk Adventures on Vimeo.

Jersey has some of the highest tides in the world.

During the third hour of a 12.5m high tide the vertical rise is up to 3″ per minute. I’d been a bit sceptical about how fast the tide rises until I stayed at Seymour tower.  This short video shows just how fast the tide rises as the sea rushes in through the gullies.

Walking in Jersey. Guided walks to Seymour tower. A short video about the history and marine experience at Seymour tower.

Jersey has some of the largest tidal ranges in the world. Up to 12m. On the lowest tides, it is possible to explore the intertidal zone and walk in a wilderness that is covered by the ocean twice a day.
